Power and Control

The examination lasts for one hour. You have a choice from twelve questions. Pick just one and answer it in an essay form. This question is worth 60 marks.

Read all the questions carefully and then choose which one you wish to answer. The command words which tell you what to do will be the same for each question and each examination.

“Outline and assess ...”

This phrase requires you to explain an argument in relatively simple terms and then to comment on it using reference to sociological theory, research evidence and your own understanding.

There are two questions for each of the possible topics of study. Usually, but not always, one of the questions will be broadly theoretical in some way and the other will reflect on contemporary British society in some way.
