Guide home A Different Society- The Kayapo Indians. The Kayapo Indians are situated in the Amazon rainforests, each day they live fascinating lives which to us seem out of ordinary, but the way in which they live their lives has helped them to survive for this long. The male Kakapos wear very decorative headresses, these are sometimes used to scare off wild and dangerous predators and they are mostly made from bird feathers. They often paint their faces using special fruit to show that they are warriors. They make their jewellery using fabric and animal teeth, the men have large holes in the ears because of the mass of their earrings. In the forest when they build their village they have to clear trees and they recycle it for a fire, and to make frames for their houses. The walls of the "houses" are made of branches and the roofs are made of palm leaves. The houses are built above the floor to protect them from bugs and insects. The Indians get their food using pea shooting like weapons that shoot poison from frogs. The delicacy in the rainforest is monkeys and birds. I have told you briefly about the Kayapo lifestyle could you handle it???? By Bethan Jones 10SP
