Sportsday 2005

The Barry Comprehensive Annual Sports Day took place in glorious sunshine at Jenner Park Athletics Stadium last week. Athletes from years 7 – 10 competed extremely well in all events, showing excellent levels of athletic ability and keen competitive attitude.

All year group competitions were a close affair with notable performances from:

  • Chad Clarke (7JE) winning the 100m and high jump
  • Daniel Evans (8SB) winning 100m (a new school record of 12.2 secs.) and long jump
  • Curtis Matthews (8MLC) winning high jump (a new school record of 1.57m)
  • Daniel Jones (SHW) winning javelin and long jump
  • Rhys Knapman (10SMP) winning 100m (a new school record of 11.3 secs.)
  • Jamie Jones (10CD) winning 200m (a new school record of 23.2 secs.)
  • Jacob Gray (10RSJ) winning 800m and 1500m

It was very pleasing to see the number of year 7 – 10 pupils competing for their form, making the event a very worthwhile date in the school calendar.
