GCSE Results Scale New Heights

70% of pupils achieved 5 or more GCSE or equivalent passesStudents attending Barry Comprehensive School have achieved their best ever GCSE results as 70% of the year 11 group achieve the 5 A*-C standard. Across the board, over a wide range of subjects, pupils achieved with over a third of the year group gaining 10 or more passes at A* - C, creating another record for Barry Comprehensive.

Very high achievers include Christopher Gribben and Luke Thomas, both gaining 14 A*-C passes with 8 at A or A*. Jamie Jones has managed to achieve in both an academic and sporting field as he goes off to Bristol with 15 A*-C to continue his studies and to develop his rugby career. Jacob Rudman also goes to Bristol (Bristol Rovers Sporting Academy) with 11 A*-C passes. Both lads have demonstrated that success in sport does not come at the expense of academic achievement.

Barry Comprehensive has achieved yet another first, with 18 year 9 pupils achieving a GCSE pass two years early. This work was largely done in their own time, with both pupils and teachers working out of school hours.

Pupils studying for the Welsh Baccalureate also achieved significantly, with the entire cohort gaining an Intermediate Diploma. This means that all pupils have gained all core Key Skills
