Positively Mad

Year 11 go ‘Positively Mad’

Year 11 go ‘Positively Mad’

Examination preparation remains the top priority for Barry Comprehensive School’s Year 11 pupils.

Following on from the recent revision weekend, experts from the Positively Mad Innovation Centre came to school this week to present a three-hour programme to 150 year 11 boys. The course is designed to assist students in attaining the best possible examination results by introducing a mixture of skills and strategies based on 20 years of research and experience in effective study habits.

The course boosts pupils confidence and belief about their own learning using motivational and goal setting strategies, introduces the principles of memory and covers various memory techniques, demonstrates how to increase reading speed and effectiveness and leads students trough developing a written plan of action for their examination preparation.

This is the third year Positively Mad have visited the school and once again the response from participants was overwhelmingly positive. The school is committed to supporting pupils through their examinations with special mentoring and revision sessions available at lunchtime and the INSET Day on Friday 17 th February has been set aside exclusively for Year 11 to catch-up on GCSE and GNVQ coursework.
