| Sports Day 2006 |
The Barry Comprehensive Annual Sports Day took place at Jenner Park Athletics Stadium last week. The wet start soon gave way to sunshine allowing athletes from years 7 – 10 to display excellent levels of athletic ability and keen competitive attitude across a range of events.
It was very pleasing to see the number of boys from all year groups competing for their form groups and it was especially gratifying to welcome a number of parents to the stadium as spectators.
All year group competitions were a close affair with notable performances in the lower year groups from:
- Paul Morgan (7CM) winning the 1500m
- Daniel Beddoe (7JC) winning the 75m hurdles
- David Bryan (8PM) winning the 100m and 200m
- Ben Johnson (8MW) winning the 75m hurdles
- Rhodri Phillips (8SG) winning the high jump
Year 9 and 10 pupils produced a very well fought competition with notable performances from:
- Daniel Evans (9IC) winning the 200m and long jump
- Kelvin Webber (9IC) winning the 200m and long jump
- Cieran Thomas (9GD) winning the 200m and 1500m
- Logan Evans (9IC) winning the shot and discus
- James Fairweather (10CCR) winning the 1500m
- Daniel Jones (10MAH) winning the high jump
- Tayvian Ludvigsen (10RM) winning the high jump, shot and discus
Thank you to all staff and pupils involved who made the day a very worthwhile event and special thanks to our friends at Perfections Dry Cleaners, Harbour Road Launderette and Thomas Coaches whose generous sponsorship of the event helped to purchase medals and certificates for the winners.
