The Cast of Aladdin Everyone looks forward to this time of year because there is so much to look forward to – especially the Staff & Pupil Pantomime at Barry Comprehensive. Last week, audiences enjoyed our third annual Panto of Aladdin, and as usual, it was very well received by hundreds of people on both nights. With a good mix of staff and pupils playing the lead parts it was guaranteed to be a huge success. Full of fun laughter, song and dance it was hard not to scream with delight and appreciation at the marvellous production. New stars were discovered, such as Ryan Lloyd, who played Aladdin. Ryan is a very talented young man who has already achieved an A* in Expressive Arts, two years ahead of his GCSE’s. Nobody was more proud of Ryan’s panto debut than his mum and dad and what an asset to future school productions he will be! Other star performances were Jafar, played by year 13 student Chris Watts, Iago, the very large green parrot played by Mr Piekielniak, Gaz and Eem, played by Chris and David Harkus, the Blue Genie of the Lamp, played by Mr Pereira, Wishy & Washy, Widow Twanky, Jasmine, the Guards, looking super-fit and macho, namely Mr Williams and Mr Hutton from the PE department, so many to mention, in all honesty it was a fantastic cast, the best yet!
Plans are already being made for next year’s panto and here’s a clue to what it might be…stay young and avoid ticking crocs! Looks like the Creative Arts Faculty are going to busy again next year. Karen Walters, Director, would like to thank all parents, pupils and members of staff who made Aladdin such a great success and all involved wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
