Arts Showcase True to form, the Creative Arts Faculty ended their first half term with a selection of performances and an exciting Art Exhibition. It was satisfying to see a range of activities taking place over two evenings. Staff, pupils, parents and invited guests experienced the diverse collection of art, drama and music, all on show, in celebration of pupils achievements during the autumn term. On both evenings, guests enjoyed wandering around the work on display in the Creative Arts Faculty. In the Art Block, photography, fine-art, sculpture, poetry, masks and pencil drawings were bursting off the tables and sketch-pads. Parents were free to talk to the Art teachers about the work exhibited and were impressed with the standards achieved. A short walk from the Art Department, and guests were transported to 1920’s Prohibition America, with a production of extracts from “Bugsy Malone”, performed by Year 10 Performing Arts pupils. It was a sheer delight to see boys singing and dancing in this popular musical. Sticking to an American theme, the Drama Department, produced the excellent play of “Of Mice and Men” performed by the newly introduced ‘A’ Level Performing Arts Course students. They were performing this play as part of their first module in Performance Skills and the audience appreciated their range of talents, including composing and playing atmospheric music that complimented the action on stage so effectively. Plenty to see, plenty to watch and enjoy; a truly, visually stimulating event. It was wonderful to share in the pupils’ enjoyment of the Creative Arts and they will all be rewarded for their hard work with a set of outstanding results and grades towards their examination work. Well done to all involved! Forthcoming events… Christmas Carol Service at All Saints Church and Staff and Pupil Panto of Aladdin! Both will take place in December. Photos
