Barry Comprehensive School students from year 9 through to year 13 competed in the annual County Badminton Singles Championship at the Welsh Institute of Sport, Cardiff.

The players regularly attend the school Badminton Club under the guidance of Mr Hilbourne.

In the Middle Boys Competition (Years 9 & 10), Curtis Fowler was victorious in the final by 2 games to 1. Other successes in this age group included Tom Evans, Lloyd James, Sam Lakin, Ryan Lloyd and Reuben Mulhern who were competing in the Championship for the first time and all performed extremely well. David Lakin reached the semi-final stage of the Middle Boys Plate Competition.

In the Senior boys Competition (Years 11 to 13), Tom Spurrier lost out in the final by 2 games to 1 after leading after the first of three games. Other notable successes in this age group were Jon Dyer, Tyler Hughes and Daniel Sadler winning their groups and progressing to the quarterfinals.

Pupils are looking forward to entering the forthcoming Ladder Competition and the County Doubles Championship in the new-year, along with their regular practice in after school training.
