Barry Comprehensive School ventured to Barcelona for the third successive year to celebrate another fruitful season on the pitch!
The 40 strong squad travelled by plane to Barcelona where they stayed in the superb Club Aire Libre resort which provides an ideal base for sporting groups. The boys stayed in furnished log cabins and participated in several activities whilst at the camp. Rock climbing, mini golf, swimming, basketball and the scary zip wire provided the entertainment during the days, but in the evening the serious work really began.
The boys played against three very good local club and school sides; FC Salt, FC Tossa and Bell Lloc. The boys managed to record some admirable results against all three teams and learned a lot about different styles of play. Although the language barrier proved an obstacle at times the boys mixed happily after the games, perhaps swapping thoughts about the pros and cons of the Christmas tree formation!
On the final day the group were treated to a trip around the Nou Camp – the home of FC Barcelona. The boys had an opportunity to visit the changing rooms, see the amazing trophy room and walk Ronaldinho’s walk up the tunnel towards the unbelievable pitch!
After the tour the boys returned home tired but excited by what was probably the best trip ever…until next year!
