The first lucky pupils tackle the wallBarry Comprehensive School’s PE Department are always striving to reach new heights and so were particularly pleased with the schools latest facility – a 10 metre climbing wall!

The PE staff have all received training from the experts at the Brecon Climbing Centre and students will soon be using the wall during PE lessons. The £28,000 installation, which is situated in the Sports Hall, is constructed in two blocks providing nine different climbing routes of differing complexity.

The PE staff pose for a photo during their training sessionBarry Comprehensive is one of very few schools in Cardiff and the Vale to have this kind of facility and the school is keen that the local community can benefit from it as well. To this end, local climbing clubs will be able to use the wall outside of school hours by arrangement with the Vale of Glamorgan council.
