Friday 16th of March was Comic Relief Day and Barry Comprehensive School saw red! Pupils from years 7 to year 13 donned red sweatshirts, ‘The Big One’ noses and waggled their scarlet ears. The School Council got busy with red spray and designed Comic Relief hair for a very willing break time clientele. Hair styling and non-uniform all involved parting with cash for this very worthy cause. Year 7 demonstrated a clear understanding of the serious reasons behind the hilarity in a very moving assembly. Jacob Miller, Sam Jones, Drew Simpson, Alex Johns and Kallum Windust led the assembly where pupils turned the significant 3 second clicking into a wonderful clapping. Mr. Tresillian gave over-enthusiastic journalists/photographers the red card for getting in close and personal on the staff Vs sixth-form soccer match. Chris Newby and Elliott Barnett decided to go the further mile in a dramatic sponsored bounce to Cardiff. It took both boys a gruelling four hours, but they were cheered on by enthusiastic friends and family. Well done, boys! Teachers were also put through their paces in a nail-biting lunchtime ‘Deal or No Deal’.. The whole school got involved in the day. Once again the tireless sixth-form got out their shammies and cleaned staff cars, contributing all donations to Comic Relief. Media Studies lessons focused on how charity appeals on TV get us to part with our money so willingly. The atmosphere on the day was excellent, with staff and pupils enjoying the day. More importantly, over a £1500 was raised. A big thank you to all who so generously donated! Photos:
