Construction Skills Championships

Barry Comprehensive School took second place at last months Construction Skills Championships, held at the International Sports Village, Cardiff Bay.

Organised by the Construction Skills Training Board, and in association with Careers Wales, the Championship consisted of a number of practical hands-on challenges typical of the complex tasks facing those working in the construction industry. These included: ‘Setting Out, Measurement & Drainage’, ‘Carpenters Conundrum’, ‘Densities, Weights & Measures’, ‘Studwork and Tilling’, ‘Bridge Engineering’ and ‘Falsework’.

The team of six from Barry Comprehensive not only had a great day, gaining an insight into the industry but also came away with prizes of JJB Sports vouchers, goody bags and a cheque for the school.
