World Martial Arts Games

James and Jay, proud of their achievements at the World Martial Arts Games in IrelandBarry Comprehensive School pupils James Sullivan and Jay Sheppard have recently returned from the World Martial Arts Games in Ireland.

James, currently in year 9, did extremely well in his categories, against competitors from karate and other forms of martial arts. He obtained gold in black belt forms 12-14 category, silver in wooden weapons black belts 12-14 category and silver in bladed weapons black belts 12-14 category. Outstanding efforts were also made by Jay Sheppard, also from year 9, and by Thomas Jones from year 11.

James, Jay and Thomas are all members of the Cadoxton Tae Kwon Do School whose members managed to obtain a total of 17 medals at the games. Their great result contributed to the Welsh Team total of 71 medals.

Members of the Cadoxton Tae Kwon Do School are now preparing for a training camp in Belgium at the end of June and further competition in Windsor in July.
