Headteacher David Swallow thanking Mr Hunter for his amazing contribution to the Reading SchemeBarry Comprehensive School’s Better Reading Partnership completed its seventh year of successful operation this week with a presentation in the School’s Learning Resource Centre.

The Partnership relies on specially trained volunteers who are partnered with boys from years 7, 8 and 9 to help them improve their reading skills. This year was the last in the scheme for Mr Hunter, a valued member of the volunteer team, who has been with us from the inception of the Partnership. As we offered our thanks and best wishes to Mr Hunter we were also able to Mr Williams, with pupils James Ferriday and Thomas Moore celebrate the completion of this years Reading Scheme.welcome Mr Williams, a new volunteer who joined us this year. In addition we are delighted that members of the school’s Sixth Form have also been active in supporting the scheme during their free periods.

The school is very grateful to all the volunteers, past and present, without whose time and dedication the partnership would not be possible.
