Storey Arms

Ten intrepid explorers from Barry Comprehensive School donned their waterproofs and headed north in search of adventure last week as they looked to rise to the natural challenges available at Storey Arms.

The trip, which is aimed at developing confidence, teamwork and self esteem through various outdoor activities tested the boys to their limits and saw them face their fears head on.

The boys had a hard introduction to the week, challenging the great outdoors with a demanding trek up the highest point in southern Britain - Pen y Fan, with a night crossing tackled later. The week didn’t get any easier for the boys who canoed, gorge walked, climbed and caved ensuring that at night there was only one thing to do – sleep!

As well as the activities, boys were also encouraged to help out around the centre, doing chores to ensure smooth running for all involved, including cooking the evening meal, washing up and making packed lunches.
