Young Dracula

Gerran (right) with the cast of Young DraculaBarry Comprehensive School’s year 11 pupil Gerran Howell may look very familiar to you – especially if you watched episode one of the new CBBC series ‘Young Dracula’

Based on the children's book by Michael Lawrence, Young Dracula is a new take on one of the most popular literary figures. Single dad Count Dracula moves to modern-day Britain from Transylvania with his two children, Vlad and Ingrid. To his father's horror, Vlad - the show's eponymous hero played by Gerran - wants not to bite, but rather to fit in with his new-found British friends, but it's not easy when you are one of the undead.

Gerran, who is currently studying GCSE Drama, has already appeared in several television series and last year appeared in a TV movie ‘Crusading Jeans’ filmed on location in Croatia.

Jon East, CBBC's new Head of Drama, has commissioned ‘Young Dracula’ to be one of the stunning series which are set to mark a new, more ambitious era of children's drama on BBC Television. Series one is on BBC1 Wales at 5pm every Thursday and runs for fourteen episodes. Plans are already underway for series two.
