UWIC First Campus
Hats off - a successful conclusion to the mini degree

Hats off - a successful conclusion to the mini degree

Barry Comprehensive School was invited to nominate fifteen Year 9 students to attend a First Campus Day Residential study course at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff.

The school's cohort were so successful last year, the first time the course was offered, that an additional 5 places were made available this year.

The idea behind the event is to give pupils the chance to experience the life of a student in the style of a mini-degree. These fifteen very able students were split into groups in a variety of subject areas – Product Design, Art, History, Food Science and Sport.

Other schools from the Cardiff area and West Wales participated. The school's students were extremely successful, dominating each of the teams in terms of results.

A graduation ceremony at the main hall of the Llandaff campus, attended by parents and guests, brought a very successful venture to a close.
