Barry Comprehensive School ’s GCSE students have mirrored the success of their A Level counterparts by achieving excellent grades across the whole range of subjects.

This year’s results saw more top grades being awarded than ever before with over a third of the year group gaining 10 or more A* - C grades. Many students had their hard work rewarded with exceptional results including;

  • Blake Knight achieved 4 A* and 5 A grades
  • Lloyd Pursall achieved 2 A* and 7 A grades
  • Elliott Hansen achieved 2 A* and 7 A grades
  • Rhys Griffiths achieved 3 A* and 9 A grades
  • Robbie Thompson achieved 3 A* and 6 A grades
  • Curtis Matthews achieved 3 A* and 4 A grades
  • Tom Williamson achieved 2 A* and 8 A grades
  • Matthew White achieved 7 A grades

Hywel Arcos, Lee Baldock and Chris Bravey gained the highest number of qualifications, with Hywel gaining 17 A* – C grades and Lee and Chris each gaining 16 A* - C grades.

Jonathan Pyer was commended by Jerry Jarvis, Managing Director of Examination Board EDEXCEL for being amongst the top ten highest scoring GNVQ Manufacturing candidates in the country.

In total, 68% of pupils achieved 5 or more A* – C grades or equivalent. Staff at the school are thrilled with the results and offer their congratulations to the whole year group.
