Swansea University Collaboration

Dr. Crawley, Head of Migration Studies at Swansea University, recently delivered two workshops on the topic of migration and refugees to Barry Comprehensive School Geography students.

The year 9 group looked at refugees and the cause and effect of their migration. During the workshop, they completed a role-playing exercise and reported back their findings.

Year 11 and 12 worked in groups and discussed the role of refugees and migrants in society. They also studied at the media and the way in which immigration issues are reported.

Pupils from the Year 9 Gifted & Talented group are now preparing for a new workshop on climate change. Again this will be led by Swansea University and we hope will form the basis of a long term collaboration between Swansea University and Barry Comprehensive School’s Faculty of Humanities.
