Barry Comprehensive School welcomed the parents and families of pupils from all the local primary schools to an Open Evening on Thursday 27 September.

Staff from every department invited visitors into their classrooms, laboratories and workshops to enjoy lessons, experiments and presentations. Food technology provided a scrumptious selection of cakes and snacks whilst the Creative Arts faculty provided entertainment with live music and a drama production and many visitors could not resist tackling the Art Department’s giant still life and viewing the extensive galleries of pupil produced work. The Science Department provided many hands-on experiments covering everything from electricity to the fascinating functions of the lung. Pupils in religious regalia greeted visitors to the Religious Studies Department whilst the Mathematics Department made innovative use of the poker table to teach real-world maths skills.

Many pupils volunteered their time to talk to the visitors about their experiences at the school as well as to take part in the wide variety of activities designed to showcase the many attractions of the school to potential pupils and parents.
