Barry Comprehensive School has become the first school in the Vale of Glamorgan to join the Business PACT initiative.

Barry Comprehensive will join the other 55 organisations which try to help make the community a safer place through information sharing.

Business PACT involves local businesses and organisations sharing photographs and information concerning members of the public who are prolific shoplifters or who act in an anti-social manner.

A key element of the initiative is exclusion notices. If an offender is banned from one business in the Vale of Glamorgan, then they are banned from every member business. Photos obtained from CCTV imagery of criminal or anti social behaviour can be passed to Business PACT members for help in identifying the person responsible.

David Swallow, the head teacher of Barry Comprehensive said: “I am pleased to be part of Business PACT, it is an excellent way of communicating with retailers within the Vale of Glamorgan. .I would encourage other Vale schools to join PACT and help cut crime and anti social behaviour”

Business PACT coordinator for the Vale of Glamorgan, PCSO Rhiannon Harris, said: “This partnership will be a great aid to combat crime as youths who consistently cause problems for businesses can easily be identified by their schools.

I hope to bring in all the other schools across the Vale of Glamorgan as soon as I can as I believe the more organisations involved in Business PACT, the more effective it will be.”
