Pancakes at the ready - let the races begin...

Barry Comprehensive School ’s Year 7 pupils celebrated the end of half-term with a charity pancake race. Ace reporter Alex Parker from Year 7 was on hand to give this exciting account of events;

“On this very sunny day, (not), there was a pancake race. Everyone who donates £1 enters. This race is not the fastest person but the best pancake-tosser. The Hospitality & Catering Dept. made around 150 pancakes for the race. Form 7HD are first, followed by 7JLL and about 5 of them landed on the floor, not including the pancakes! 7JC are racing in two heats as there is so many of them.

All donations are going to our partner school in Pemba, Tanzania. I’m glad we aren’t eating the pancakes afterwards because they are soggy and gravelly.

Billy, Pancake-Tosser of the Year 2008, with his prizeThe second heat of JC is going now. 7JE are next, followed by 7MD (the reigning Dodgeball champions) and finally 7AST. The next race is everyone who won in the heats. There are lots of them. This is the semi finals and these guys are really good. Now it’s the finals and the pressure is on. Ten competitors and they are warming up. The crowd goes WILD and third place was Brad Thomas 7JC, second was Jake Shed 7AST and BILLY GRATON 7JC CAME FIRST that means he is the pancake-tosser of the year 2008 - and that’s it folks!”
