PGL 2008

On the 6 th of June, thirty three pupils from Barry Comprehensive travelled to Vias, near Beziers in the South of France to take part in a water sports holiday organised by PGL travel.

Whilst in the South of France, the boys aged 12 to 15, took part in various activities including Catamaran sailing, wind surfing, snorkelling and fun boat sailing in addition to high speed activities such as ringos and the ocean rider! As well as a day out at Aqualand in Cap D’adge, which has an abundance of adrenaline rush waterslides.

All of the pupils gave every activity maximum effort and the PGL instructors were thoroughly impressed with the standard demonstrated by the group, especially in sailing activities where international sailor Connor Noyes excelled.

Throughout the week the party had the opportunity to mix with other schools from Liverpool and Hereford and all pupils enjoyed and appeared to benefit from the whole experience. Party leader Mr. Manley said “All of the boys were a credit to the school both in the way they conducted themselves and the effort they put into all of the activities. It was a gruelling week and all of the lads kept themselves working hard and earned the respect of the PGL instruction team.”

Planning has already started for next year’s trip, which will hopefully be to La Fosca in Spain. This site offers even more upmarket facilities including an onsite 50m swimming pool!!!! Any parent/guardian who would like more information regarding next years trip can contact Mr. Manley or Mr. Ingle at the school.
