The Year 9 GCSE Performing Arts group doing what they do best!
A group of twenty five Year 9 boys who were chosen to complete a GCSE two years early and in only one year, have just started work on the Greek tragedy “Antigone” a text not usually studied until A Level.
Not only have they risen to this huge challenge, but they have also been extremely creative in setting the performance in a London nightclub run by a powerful mafia gang.
The story usually seen from “Antigone's”, a girl, point of view, is now seen from the main male characters, “Creon”.
The aim of this project was not to perform the actual play written by Sophocles but to use this text to inspire the students to devise an original and modern piece of theatre.
The show, named after the nightclub “ THEBES ”, is sure to raise a few eyebrows this summer, so don't miss it!
