At the end of April, Barry Comprehensive School was transformed into Whitewall Comprehensive in the year 10 production of an adapted version of John Godber’s ‘Teechers’

The pupils, all studying GCSE Drama or BTEC Performing Arts, maintained the schools high standard of performance under the direction of five trainee teachers studying BA (Hons) Education: Secondary Drama at UWIC. Producing a performance is a requirement of the UWIC course and was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for pupils and trainees alike.

The play itself is comedy set in the fictional school of Whitewall Comprehensive, originally written to be performed by only three actors; the script was adapted to cater for the large cast.

For many performers it was their first school production and all the pupils who gave up their time to be involved with ‘Teechers’, whether performing on stage, helping with front of house or working as part of the lighting and sound team, worked extremely hard to make the production a success.

The resulting performance was humorous, yet realistic and engaged the audience throughout. Well done and congratulations to all pupils involved and we hope to see you developing your talent in future productions.
