Young Consumer of the Year Competition

Grant, Nathan, Lewis, and Joshua with the impressive Young Consumer ShieldFour pupils from Barry Comprehensive demonstrated that they are aware of consumer issues in the recent Young Consumer of the Year Competition, organised by Trading Standards, held at Barry Memorial Hall on Monday 4th February.

Joshua Dymond, Grant Jones, Nathan Whitehead and Lewis Crompton, all in year 12, took the lead from the beginning in a fast-paced quiz, covering consumer issues, politics and European law. The quiz, very reminiscent of University Challenge, had pupils buzzing in frantically to gain extra points.

All four pupils take part in Citizenship lessons at Barry Comprehensive School and were keen to take part in the quiz after a session held by Kate Palmer on consumer issues and young people. The pupils now look forward to taking part in the all Wales final held at Llandrindod Wells on March 3 rd and 4th. We are willing them on at school and would like to thank Kate for all her help and support.
