Year 11 Sociology students paid a visit to Cardiff Crown Court recently as part of their work on crime in society. They spent an hour in the Court Library where they had an interesting question and answer session with Judge Richards. The students were given a short tour of the court buildings, and then spent the morning in the public galleries of various court sessions which included ABH, Dangerous Driving and Possession of Drugs with intent to supply. Pupils were impressed by the level of drama in the court rooms. They watched in anticipation as people gave evidence, as barristers argued and judges ensured the process was fair. The pupils didn't want to leave the action of the court at lunchtime but they were due at the Welsh Assembly. They observed the AM live debate in the Senedd Building and learned about the powers of the Welsh Assembly. Overall, the boys thoroughly enjoyed their day and agreed with Judge Richards who'd said earlier on in the day that the court room is real life drama!
