Barry Comprehensive School’s Btec Sports students ready to face the world of work in their smart kit sponsored by J S Bowsher Ltd

September saw the start of an exciting new development at Barry Comprehensive School as 16 of the school’s Btec Sports students embarked upon work experience placements in the Sports and Leisure industry.

The boys’ new course has been developed in partnership between the School, VT Training, Skills Active Wales and the Vale of Glamorgan 14-19 Learning Pathways Partnership and will see them spending a whole day per fortnight at placements in the Vale and beyond gaining experience in the working world.

The boys began their placements at Barry Leisure centre where they were inducted by the Vale sports development team and representatives from VT training. Mr D. Williams, Head of PE at the school, has been very impressed with the start that the group has made on their Btec course and is hoping that the course will prove extremely popular and successful in the future.
