Congratulations to Richard Lewis of year 9 who came 2 nd in this second year of Cardiff schools invitational climbing competition gaining a silver medal and some prizes
Barry Comprehensive were invited to attend the event hosted at Boulders climbing centre Cardiff, where over 120 pupils pitted their strength and agility against each other. The competition consisted of 5 rounds of progressively hard climbs in a knock out style event and a skills test in which 15 climbing “problems” were given and the competitors had to climb their way out of.
The six man team consisted of Rhys Christie, Knut Helle and Lewis Mckernan of year 12 and Richard Lewis, Gareth Crapnell year 9 and Kieran Holmes (Yr7).
In a series of very closely fought rounds, the crowds were very impressed by Kieran’s natural talent for the sport which earned him a 4 th place. Impressive, considering he has only been climbing for three weeks.
The team are part of Barry Comprehensive Climbing Club who train every week at the school.
