Curtis Snaps Up
The Awards

Fifteen year old Curtis Fowler has celebrated a highly successful first year taking photographs.

Curtis, currently in Year 11, took up photography during the autumn of 2007 and within a few months had been short listed for Digital Camera Magazine’s Young Photographer of the Year Award.

Although Curtis is the youngest member of Barry Camera Club he has regularly won the club’s monthly photo competitions.

Barry Camera Club introduced Curtis to photography salons (international photography competitions) and he had his first photograph accepted by the Swansea International Salon in January this year. Since then he has had consistent success in international salons, competing against the best adult photographers in the world.

In the last few months he has achieved three ‘Honourable Mentions’, an FIAF (the Italian photography federation) medal as well as winning the Under 16 Special Prize at the Concorso Forno salon in Italy.

Back in the UK, Curtis has just won the Herefordshire ‘Young Photographer of the Year’ competition and is in the final of the RSPCA ‘Young Photographer of the Year’ competition. He will be attending the awards ceremony in the Tower of London in December.
