Duke of Edinburgh Bronze

The Year 11 students receiving their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh awards

The Year 11 students receiving their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh awards

A group of Barry Comprehensive School Year 11 students were delighted to receive their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh awards recently.

The award is a challenging programme of activities which help the individual to learn new skills, help others and experience an expedition.

The award took over 6 months to complete and the student’s programmes were very varied. All of them gained a First Aid qualification during the programme and planned, prepared and undertook a two day and one night expedition. The boys certainly enjoyed the personal challenge of the award but equally valuable were many parts which required them to work as part of a team.

As soon as they had received their certificates, the group sat down and started planning for their Silver Awards.
