Hospitality & Catering Meal 2008

Barry Comprehensive School’s Year 10 Hospitality & Catering students recently prepared and served a three-course dinner at Barry College’s Glamorgan Suite Restaurant. The room looked very festive, with tree and tables all beautifully decorated.

The popular GNVQ course, which is run in association with Barry College, requires students to perform the roles of both cooks and waiters to a professional standard. All aspects of the meal are assessed and count towards the student’s final grade.

The meal this year was excellent: a superb terrine starter, stuffed chicken with an array of seasonal vegetables, including stir-fried sprouts, chestnuts and bacon, and wonderful home-made Christmas pudding. There was an excellent final treat as guests were serenaded by Jack Feureisen singing, ‘It’s the most wonderful night of the year’. It certainly felt that way, with first class food and service.

The dedication of the students and staff, who attend extra study sessions before and after school, was apparent to all the lucky guests. A big thank you to the year 10 students involved.
