A highlight of Barry Comprehensive School’s calendar is the Annual Presentation Evening and this year’s was no exception.

Pupils, their family and friends, staff and guests celebrated the many successes and achievements. Guest speaker Mr Sam Goonetillake, Founder and Trustee of the international charity ‘Help Lanka’ praised the school’s role in supporting their partner schools in Sri Lanka and acknowledged that Barry Comprehensive School had stronger links than any other school in the UK.

Mr Goonetillake praised the achievements of the party of students and staff who visited Sri Lanka last summer and thanked the school for the money raised. Mr Goonetillake also wished this year’s party, who are leaving shortly, every success.

The venue for the event was the school’s Sports Hall and the audience of almost 900 people enjoyed the presentations and the multimedia Review of the Year.

Another highlight was the presentation by Mrs Linda James, Chairperson of the Bullies Out Campaign who awarded Ms Sian Phillips with a special award marking the schools long term work with anti-bullying councillors. Barry Comprehensive School is one of only three schools in Wales to receive this award, recognising the tireless efforts of Ms Phillips, other staff and pupils who work to ensure that bullying is never tolerated.
