The Barry Comprehensive Year 11 football team have made an excellent start to the season by progressing to the Welsh Schools’ Cup. The squad have qualified for the Welsh Cup as Cardiff and Vale finalists at every opportunity since Year 7 which is an outstanding achievement for the team and the school. The boys have played some superb football throughout the regional competition this season with victories over Corpus Christie, Mary Immaculate and a semi final scalp of Willows High School. The team produced their best football of the season with a 4-0 victory over Willows in the semi-final with goals from Ryan Newman, Kyle Lewis, Ben Stait and Karl Bryan. Manager Mr. Ingle has been thoroughly impressed with the team for the past 5 years, he said: “The team have showed a togetherness for a number of seasons now. The boys work very hard for each other and the fast tempo football played each game has made this side extremely hard to beat”. Barry Comprehensive School now wait in anticipation for the Welsh Schools’ Cup draw to be made and look forward to progressing to the later stages of the competition.
