The Summer Term is always a busy time of year for the Creative Arts Faculty and during the second week of July the hall was full of eager pupils and parents anticipating the spectacular production of “Jesus Christ Superstar”. It has to be said that this show was outstanding on many levels. The music, choreography, singing and acting all contributed towards the best show this year. James Sullivan, as Jesus, moved the audience to tears and Jack Feureisen, as Judas, had such stage presence, with his complete control of a very demanding character. Kelly Virgil, as Mary Magdalene, made this her final performance before she moves on to university. Her portrayal of Mary was beautiful and touching. Many members of the audience over the three night performance commented that ‘the standard equals the West End’. It is a credit to the whole cast that they managed to put the show together in under three weeks. A truly remarkable achievement. The Creative Arts Faculty has set a very high standard of performance that keeps on growing and each year introduces new and exciting talent to our stage. Head of Faculty, Karen Walters, says “Jesus Christ Superstar has made me proud of the pupils and the incredible members of staff who worked so hard to make this a production never to be forgotten”. Watch this space, next year will be even better, if you can believe that!!!!
