Safer Cycling

Over a two week period in March, twenty-two pupils from Barry Comprehensive School took part in a Safer Cycling Course run by the Vale of Glamorgan Road Safety Officer, Sian Akers.

All the boys completed the National Standards Level 1 and Level 2 course which involved them being taught a number of manoeuvres on the public highway near the school.

The course is designed to develop road sense and an awareness of traffic dangers.

Nick Canham from Cycle Training Wales, who was the course instructor, was impressed with the boys' attitude and cycling skills, saying that many of them were ready for the Level 3 course which is aimed at adults!
