Urdd Residential Camp at Llangrannog

Sixteen Barry Comprehensive School pupils from year 7 & 8 recently spent a week at the Urdd residential camp at Llangrannog. This was the first time that a mixed year group had attended Llangrannog together. During the residential adventure week, the boys participated in many sports, language and culture activities.

After the long journey, the boys appreciated a walk to the beach and spent time searching the caves and looking at the well known rock formation “Trwyn Bica” (Bica’s nose).

The boys participated in archery, trampolining, a rope assault course, skiing, tobogganing, quad biking, go-carting and swimming. They also spent time at the new equine centre where they learnt how to ride and lead a horse as well as how groom and care for the animals.

During each day they had Welsh language lessons, where the children learnt useful words and phrases which they then used to speak with the staff and other teachers at the camp.

The highlights of the week were the competitions against teams from other schools. Barry came a respectable second out of eleven teams in the science competition and two of the Barry teams were awarded joint first place out of fourteen teams in the quiz evening. Da iawn, bechgyn!!
