On set with Craig Fairbrass

It’s not unusual for us all to feel a little like a zombie at the end of the Autumn term. But for 33 Media, Film and Theatre sixth-formers who were invited to appear as extras in the new Danny Dyer and Craig Fairbrass movie, Devil’s Playground, the last night of term was quite literally the ‘night of the living dead’.

Accompanied by Mrs Edwards, Mr Pereira and Mr Rees, the students donned make-up and costume in sub-zero temperatures and were part of the night shoot filming for the climactic scene of the movie, in which the heroes fought off a crazed band of flesh-eating monsters from Barry Comprehensive.

Everyone looks better with make-up

Dodging their way through explosions and fires, a metal pole wielded by Danny Dyer, as well as a hammer attack from Craig Fairbrass, the student zombies had a fantastic time, and a few picked up a compliment or two from the stars of the movie on their acting skills.

The producer, Will Gruffydd Edwards was extremely impressed with our students’ performances both on and off the set and commented that they were the best extras he had ever worked with. So there may well be more opportunities for stardom coming our way! The movie opens in cinemas at the end of October.
