Barry Comprehensive School’s Creative Arts Faculty have done it again with their wonderful production of “Evita”.
Over three nights, audiences experienced the powerful story of Eva Peron, brought to life, through narration by the character Che Guevara. With music and lyrics written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, including the song everyone knows, ‘Don’t Cry for me Argentina’, it was no wonder parents, family, friends and special guests, rose to their feet, in appreciation of the talented cast.
For a few, this was their last performance – Jack Feureisen, who played ‘Che’, was amazing. Jared Cornish as ‘Peron’, gave an outstanding performance and Rosie-Loup James, was mesmerising as ‘Evita’. All three will be leaving next year and moving onto University. Jack and Jared are hoping to earn places at leading London Drama Schools.
The rest of the cast deserve a great round of applause for being such an engaging chorus. Multi-rolling, dancing and singing, so professionally, you would have thought they had just arrived from London’s West End! The School Orchestra provided live accompaniment, adding atmosphere and impact throughout the show.
The productions at Barry Comprehensive strive to provide top quality entertainment and the Creative Arts Team are proud of what their students achieve.
On the last night, as they left the stage, the question on everyone’s lips was – “what are we doing next?” The team won’t be idle for long with a Christmas Carol Service on December 14th and Sixth Form students will be performing an exciting new production of “Macbeth” in the New Year – not to be missed.
We hope the Barry community will continue to support and enjoy the hard work created by the students and staff at Barry Comprehensive, because without you, it’s not worth doing!
