Llangrannog

We can’t believe we’re half way through the week.  Time is flying here at Llangrannog.

Today started with a fun dip in the pool but when we came out we were met with heavy rain and the thought of going to build a shelter didn’t appeal to us, but we went into the clearing in the wood and got going.  It was hard work as we only had a few pieces of cord, tyres, wood and tarpaulin but on we went and as you can see it was a really good shelter with room for all of us the shelter from the heavy rain.  Thank goodness we didn’t have to sleep out here, the en-suite comfortable beds were much more appealing!

We all wished the lunch break away as we were really excited for the quadbikes and they didn’t disappoint.  Mrs Jones was a mean machine on them and showed us how it was done – she does have experience from being brought up on a farm.  The rain had made some great muddy puddles that we could go through and get covered in mud – great fun.

The last activity was the team building session, it was interesting to see some of us leading and others being a team player.

Another busy day done and it’s our last tomorrow with the disco and awards ceremony to end.

Our first day of activities was a busy one; we started with orienteering where we had to do a hunt around the camp looking for different numbers in different locations.  It was great working as a team and getting to know our way around.

It was then on to the climbing wall, which was quite easy but a few of us challenged the more difficult section and got to the top.

We then went on the trampolines - this was fun even though the harness was a little uncomfortable, but after readjusting we got on with our back flips!

We were really excited for the go-carts and we all whizzed around the track, Mrs Jones thought some of us would give Lewis Hamilton a run for his money, she was very happy to see us coming off!

Our last activity was the toboggans – this was a lot of fun and we all got very wet as we zoomed down the slope on our little sledges.

We also got to take our picture with Dewi Pws Morris who is a famous Welsh singer and the Welsh Children’s Poet for 2011, he was visiting the camp.

We were all very tired and the film night in our PJ’s with popcorn was the perfect end to a very busy day.

We got to Llangrannog by lunchtime and a lovely lunch was waiting for us, then after going over the rules for Llangrannog we dropped our bags and went for a walk over the cliff down to the beach.

The views were amazing and the walk was really worth it as the beach was great, it had caves and a stream but a few of us got a bit wet so walking back up was hard but we did it!

We then unpacked our bags and Ashley and David took us out on the astro turf to play football, we were all ready for our supper after all this exercise.

Then we played games in the gym after tea and learned the Llangrannog dance – hope Mrs Jones didn’t get any pictures of this!!

A group of Year 7 pupils are departing today for a week of fun and energetic activities at the Welsh Urdd camp at Llangrannog in West Wales.  Don’t forget to check for updates and pictures of the boys during the week.  After lunch today it will be a long walk down to the beach for some paddling!  Watch this space...
