Barry Comprehensive School students took part in the British Science Association’s CREST awards this year. CREST is a project-based awards scheme for the STEM subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The award requires students to demonstrate motivation, problem-solving skills and helps students to become better prepared for the investigative skills needed at GCSE. Four classes in Year 7 and 8 took part in the Bronze CREST Award during their Science lessons. They were required to make an investigation into forgery using both internet research and practical activities. The students did extremely well at completing the tasks to a good standard. Their findings were then written up in a scientific report. Forty eight students from the four classes completed the award to the standard required to gain the Bronze CREST Award. Well done to all the students involved!
