Key Terms in Research Methodology

Bias Research is unbiased if the researcher has kept his or her own viewpoints out of the report

Ethics Research is ethical if it does not hurt or harm people and if they have consented to the research.

Generalisable Research is generalisable if the findings could be said to apply to more than one situation or place.

Reliable Research is reliable if it can be trusted and you can depend on it.

Repeatable Research is repeatable if others could do it and gain similar results and findings.

Representative Research is representative if the sampling procedure was correct and people appear in the study in the same proportions as in real life.

Valid Research is valid if it represents the world as it really is.
