Generous Class 9PB

Class 9PB of Barry Comprehensive School won a prize of £300 in a national anti-smoking campaign last year. The money could be spent on anything of the boys choosing: games, a class outing or other treats. Despite weeks of discussion, the boys were unable to reach a decision about how to spend the money before the Christmas holidays

However, on their return to school last week the class quickly reached a unanimous decision – all the money will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Tsunami Earthquake Appeal to help the millions of people affected by the natural disaster in South East Asia.

Staff at the school are very impressed by the compassion and awareness of world events that this decision by the group of thirteen and fourteen year-olds demonstrates and commend their action.
