Year 12 and 13 Theatre Studies students at Barry Comprehensive have huge grins all over their faces this week and it is not surprising considering they have just completed their ‘A' level Practical Examination, and all 15 students were awarded top marks!! The students performed a variety of roles: Year 13 worked on a piece of political drama based on the death to Stephen Lawrence and Year 12 wrote their own short plays based on the works of Stamislowski.

The students were awarded their grades for this unit after discussions with the external examiner, who said “These are the best Theatre Studies students I have seen in years! They have produced outstanding performances, equal of professional actors, I am extremely jealous and wish I could work with them!” Miss Walters, Head of Drama and Mr. Piekieniak, drama teacher, echoed the examiners comments and said, “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with such talented young performers, to watch them develop their performance skills, to this standard, has been inspiring for all young actors in the school”. It is not surprising that Drama and Theatre Studies are popular subjects at G.C.S.E. and ‘A' level at Barry Comprehensive and with their reputation of excellent productions every year, the Drama Department go from strength to strength.
