The Under 13s team began the year winning silver at the County Tumble & Vault Championships. Team members Jamie Davies and Bradley Haysham were selected to represent the county at the Welsh Championships and helped secure another silver. Michael Netherway was selected to represent the County at the Welsh Special Needs Rotary School Championships having won Gold, Silver and Bronze at the Floor, Parallel Bars and Bench events. The school entered two Under 13 teams at the Welsh Floor and Vault Championships where the team of Thomas Batte, Zachary Cleary, Jamie Davies, Thomas Evans, Bradley Haysham, Andrew Mock and Adam Peake (reserve) took gold and the team of Mark Aspury, Ian Bosley, Ashley Close, Michael Netherway and James Sullivan took silver. The gold medal winners were selected to represent Wales at the British School Championships where they placed sixth. The Sports Acrobatics Team of Thomas Batte, Jamie Davies, Thomas Evans, Andrew Mock, Christopher Morgan and James Sullivan won the Welsh silver medal at team level, whilst in the Welsh Under 13s Sports Acrobatics Boys Pairs, James Sullivan & Ashley Close took 4th position, Ian Bosley & Zachary Cleary took bronze, Jamie Davies & Thomas Evans took silver and Thomas Batte & Andrew Mock took gold. Thomas Batte, Andrew Mock and Bradley Haysham were selected to represent Wales at the British Schools Sports Acrobatics & Tumble Championships, where Bradley took bronze and Thomas and Andrew took the Pairs bronze. The boys' contribution helped the Welsh team win both the British Under 13s Sports Acrobatics & Tumble team gold and the overall British Sports Acrobatics & Tumble team championship gold for the second year running. Team Coach Emma Thompson said, “I'm very proud of all the boys efforts at every level of gymnastics in the country. Their achievements are particularly notable because the majority of the team only train as an extra-curricular activity after school and all but two team members learnt Sports Acrobatics during this school year.” |
