Two Barry Comprehensive students won awards in the Annual Writing Competition organised by the University of Wales, Newport.
Chris Evans won the Short Story competition and Craig Holmes came runner-up in the Poetry competition. Entries for the competition were received from schools right across south east Wales and judges commented that the standard of entry was higher than ever this year.
Chris, Craig and their fellow prizewinners attended a private lunch with the poet Wendy Cope after which their prizes were presented.
Wendy Cope then treated the boys, along with other students from Barry Comprehensive and other schools, to a reading of some of her work.
