First Day Back

Barry Comprehensive School welcomed new and returning pupils and staff to school this week

The new Year 7 pupils had most of the school to themselves for the first day to give them time to settle into their new surroundings.

Meanwhile, the new Year 12 took over the library for induction activities including the annual spaghetti structure contest. This group task involves building a metre tall structure able to support the weight of a golf-ball using only spaghetti and tape! Under the guidance of Careers Wales, the group completed this entertaining exercise designed to encourage problem-solving and group-work skills The whole year group had fun with the task which acted as a great ice-breaker.

This September we are proud to welcome a new group of teaching and support staff to the school. Many of the posts on offer were hotly contested with a large number of very able candidates eager to work at the school. We are extremely pleased with the high calibre of the new appointments and feel sure the new staff members will contribute greatly to their individual departments and to school life in general.
