Barry Comprehensive School welcomed back a former pupil to the school. Jeffrey Hook left the school in 1971 and returned as The Worshipful The Major of Southwark, London. His year in office sees him preside over a borough with a population of 300,000.

Councillor Hook met pupils in the school and tried very hard to remember his way around. He has invited a party from the school to visit the Globe Theatre which is in Southwark and watch a Shakespearean performance. Just as importantly for the boys, Councillor Hook has also offered lunch in the Mayor’s parlour
